A Change of Heart

March 21, 2015

Hey guys! What's up? It is I, your favorite hippie, and today on the blog, we will discuss trends and having a change of heart.

If you've been a long time reader (thank you!) then you might remember this post. If you're new to the blog, then stop what you're doing, and head on over to the post where I first talked about trends I was definitely not a fan of...also welcome to A Fabulous Hippie!

Disclaimer: This post is not intended to offend or discourage any of you who may like the trends that I dislike. This post is meant to be humorous. By all means, share your opinions in the comment section below! I want to know how you feel about these trends, too!

Ginormous Holes in Denim

heart 2heart

Ugh. Almost 2 years later, and I still hate ridiculously hole-y jeans. I love a pair of ripped, distressed denim like the next girl, but this is too much. You could pair a really cute and classy top with those jeans, and I would still gag.

Now we're talkin'! This is what mama likes: distressed denim that is still tasteful.

Anything Tied Around the Hips

There is no way you can convince me that this trend is ok. And like I predicted back in 2013 when I wrote this post, I knew it wouldn't take long for everyone to wear this trend the f*ck out. Sorry, I couldn't find a pic to justify this crime.

Bodycon Mini Dresses + Skirts

It depends on how you style this dress or skirt. It's not okay to walk out of the house in broad daylight with a dress this short and so much skin showing. Unless you're Ariana Grande, save that for the club ladies.
At first, I honestly felt like fitted mini dresses and skirts were disgusting, but I've had a change of heart since then. Like I said, it's all in how you style it. Instead of sky high platform heels, go for single soled heels, like pointed toe pumps or these delicious stilettos, and instead of going bare with your arms, you could easily layer your dress with a kimono, a denim jacket (since denim is the all the rage all of a sudden) or a flannel if you're feeling that way. I would style my bodycon dress wearing a grid patterned button down with the sleeves rolled up (J.Crew Style of course) opened like a jacket or tied in the front with a trendy black bucket bag, a wide brim hat, and pointed toe booties. Because I'm FABULOUS like that. *diva snap*
Also, let's have some class ladies....the 3rd picture is unacceptable. If you bend over and I can see all of your goods, I have a problem with that.

Birkenstocks

heart 16

I'm not gonna lie, normally I consider trying a trend before knocking it, but I immediately said "NO" when I was first saw these on a Tumblr fashion blog. They just look funny to me. And uncomfortable. I wouldn't know, I've never put my foot in a pair of Birkenstocks before. Seriously. I remember when all of my classmates in elementary school used to wear them daily. Like, back in the very early 2000's, they were like the go-to or "essential". I doubt I'll change my mind like I did the next trend.

Peep/Open Toe Booties

Oh my gosh, I remember when my hatred for peep toe booties was much more than my hatred for licorice, history class and kitten heels combined. Well, I guess you can say that I've had a change of heart. I recently ordered a pair of silver open toe booties/sandals from Charlotte Russe (in gold), and I love them! I call these my "Summer Time" booties. (^_^) If you get the ones that are strappy like mine, it would be best if you try them on in a store. The "cage" may be a little wider than you thought or you may have to size up or down because we all know that not every website tells you if a shoe is true to size or not and the reviews are never any help. This customer says it's true to size, but the customer before her says it's a half size too small. WHICH ONE IS IT?!

That's all for today, loves! Thanks for reading!!! Stay tuned for Part 2! How do you feel about these trends? ;)
